Trip Advisor has named Torquay in Devon as 4th in their Travellers’ Choice Top 10 Destinations in the United Kingdom.
With the first three destinations being London, Edinburgh and Liverpool, Torquay comes in at number 4 as the highest rated resort in the country. The Trip Advisor report describes Torquay, which is located on Devon’s beautiful English Riviera, as having a distinctively Mediterranean feel. Torquay’s marine aviary, famous Kents Cavern and its links to Agatha Christie were all highlighted.
Top rated attractions were Kents Cavern, Bygones, Babbacombe Theatre and Greenway Ferry and Pleasure Cruises. Top rated restaurants included Orange Tree Restaurant and Old Vienna Restaurant. Top hotels included Charterhouse, which recently won Trip Advisor’s Top UK Hotel Award and its Best UK Service Award. The Elmdene and the Somerville were among top reviewed hotels also mentioned.
The English Riviera Tourism Company’s Chief Executive Carolyn Custerson said, “I am delighted that Torquay on the the English Riviera has been recognised as one of the top destinations in the country.
