Step back in time to the 1950’s when steam trains were the way to travel…..
No visit to the English Riviera is complete without visiting Agatha Christie’s famous Greenway House and Garden, plus you can now arrive by steam train! Greenway Halt is a brand new stop on this wonderfully picturesque route – just board the steam train at Paignton or Kingswear.
Sitting on the banks of the beautiful River Dart with simply stunning views, Greenway House and Garden is now run by The National Trust. Formerly the holiday home of Agatha Christie and her family, it holds the family collection of the famous author.
The gardens are home to over 2,700 species of trees and woody plants which are just waiting to be discovered.
Things you need to know before your visit :
A beautiful 30-minute woodland walk from the station platform will take you to Greenway House and Garden. The walk through the wood is sloped and you will need walking footwear (muddy in places if wet!). Entrance to the house is available but will need to be booked on arrival . On busy days a timed ticket system is in operation for access to the house .
Pre-book online up to three days in advance. The grounds have steep slopes and narrow paths, making it partly accessible . Allow 3 hours to gain the most from your visit. For more information click here..
